ART STARS 2010
In January 2010, Polo Jeans Co. Ralph Lauren commissioned more than 50 of Europe’s most exciting contemporary artists to customise 3-dimensional stars made from the finest American denim. Calling on the talents of these artists to respond to the iconography of Americana that embodies the spirit of Polo Ralph Lauren, each artist created something totally unique: beyond the shapes and sizes of the ART STARS, the only limit was their imaginations...
Some hugely exciting and inspirational works were created as a result and exhibitions took place in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain Sweden, Switzerland and the UK showcasing the ART STARS.
The 2010 ART STARS include Jasper Joffe, Okudo, Antonio et Manuel, Case, Daniele Villa, Annie P, Diya Ajit and Niklas Holm, to name but a few.
All the stars created were brought together in a public exhibition in London on 6 December 2010 and auctioned in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

ART STAR No. 29 LIBERTY & INDEPENDENCE, 2010. Vinyl photography and denim.

Artist: Alberto de Pedro
Location: Madrid, Spain
Short Bio:
Madrid-based public artist Alberto de Pedro brings walls and street furniture to life, using collage, painting and blown-up photography. He plays with scale to great effect: curbs, bollards and street corners become tiny, multi-windowed houses or toy-like streets, while life-size elephants patrol walls and giant legs disappear into pavements. De Pedro is also an accomplished photographer who comprehensively documents the city in its entirety, from the homeless on the streets to the kids in the clubs.
