Established in the heart of Bordeaux, Unesco World Heritage site, with eighteenth-century architecture, Mexicana was born from a family of local tradesmen.

As soon as 1978, Mr. Benayoun senior prepares the ground for this family adventure by setting up his first shop Rue Sainte-Catherine, the longest pedestrian and commercial street in Europe.

During the eighties, ready-to-wear clothing business develops and thrives, and the shop becomes the expert in denim of the area. It was a real “concept store” before the term was even invented, and it still offers complete and original collections, as well as numerous accessories.

As time went by, the good reputation of the shop is confirmed, and its activity grows.

During the nineties, Benayoun’s three sons take the adventure further by taking a keen interest in foreign parts.

Fascinating encounters with the country its traditions, its culture and its handicrafts have a decisive influence on the shop.

In 1988, the family both creates its own trademark of boots Made in Mexico and renames the shop. Mexicana was born.

Since the beginning of the new millennium, the Made in Mexico trademark Boots is displayed in the most prestigious European stores. On a surface area of 500 square metres, Mexicana’s shop offers different selective corners, constantly renewed, of Denim and Urban Chic.

Mexicana has built for itself a lasting reputation of benchmark as regards fashion, which now expands nationally.

“Concept store” " Global place ", Mexicana has inspired the city with the fashion in clothing of several generations of inhabitants of Bordeaux.

Innovative multi-brand shop, it offers a variety of choices, in ready-to-wear clothes and mid-range clothes as well as accessories, by displaying prestigious trademarks long before they reach their peak.

Season after season, the inquiring and demanding spirit remains, perfect harmony between classic, basics and original, precursory perspectives.

Such is the spirit of Mexicana: fundamentals, basics, “reinterpreted” points of reference that do not suffocate the individual with conventions, and accessories, real sparks of everyone’s singularity.

Parallel to its openness to trends, Mexicana involves in the artistic life of the city, by opening its space to other languages and expressions. To open up, to nurture, to share, to bond…

Today, the aim of Mexicana is interdisciplinary, like our references and our needs.

With that perspective, the artist Jean-François Buisson was entrusted with the job of creating the furniture as well as the decoration, which convey to the shop a dreamlike atmosphere made of metal stitching, with showpieces such as the chandeliers and the fitting rooms, genuine futuristic submarines.

Mexicana is a crossing point, a place of propositions, of life. The shop shares its trading space by involving in the energy and style of the selected designers. Therefore, it presents and brings to light the avant-garde of fashion designers, graphic designers, painters and musicians, by giving it an unequalled visibility.

There is no consumer anymore.

Mexicana offers more than fashion, it offers the assertion of the self.

Polo Jeans Co. Ralph Lauren Art Stars

Polo Jeans Co. Ralph Lauren Art Stars

In January 2010, Polo Jeans Co. Ralph Lauren commissioned over 40 of Europe’s most exciting young contemporary artists to customise stars made from the finest American denim.

With the iconic Stars and Stripes flag for inspiration, each young artist was tasked with creating something totally unique: beyond the shapes and sizes of the Art Stars, the only limit was their imaginations...

Each Art Star will appear in a Polo Jeans Co. store, before joining a public exhibition in London in late 2010.

Contemporary art and fashion aficionados will have the opportunity to own one of these exclusive Art Stars.

All the stars created will be brought together in a public exhibition in London in late 2010 and auctioned in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of young people with cancer between the ages of 13-24.

Teenagers don’t stop being teenagers because they have cancer, which is why Teenage Cancer Trust builds specialist units in NHS hospitals, staffed by teenage cancer specialists.

These units are designed for and by young people and aim to give teenage cancer patients the very best chance of a positive outcome whilst being as close as possible to normal life.

State-of-the-art facilities keep patients occupied during long, and often grueling stays, whilst bringing teenagers with cancer together so they can support each other.
